However it will improve after Ramadan.

Mumbai cotton yarn purchases improved slightly in the first half of the week, supporting the rise in some cotton counts and varieties. But this positive trend did not continue. Buyers were not interested in stocking up only in purchasing cotton yarn for immediate needs.

Tirup 30 count combed yarn was trading at Rs 278-282 per kg, 34 count combed yarn at Rs 288-292 per kg and 40 count combed yarn at Rs 305-310 per kg. 30 count roving was selling at Rs 250-255 per kg. 34 count roving was quoted at Rs 255-260 per kg and 40 count roving at Rs 265-270 per kg.

Cotton prices rose in Kupang due to regular purchases from textile mills, and traders said that as the cotton arrival season ends, textile mills seek to add longer-term stocks. Cotton prices were quoted at 62,700-63,200 rupees per kandi, up 200 rupees per kandi from the previous year.
